The adaptive fit system allows the upper and tongue to wrap the foot for comfort and support. It also allows different foot shapes to remain comfortable during long hours on the court.
Upper Redesign
As the name "Vapor" suggests, Nike removes as much excess weight as possible to promote a faster ride. The engineered mesh is lighter in the Vapor 12 and it maintains durable in the high-wear medial-toe section.
Full-Length Foot Frame
The firm foot frame wraps around a supportive midfoot plate and spans heel to toe, providing a secure fit. It provides the needed stability to transfer power during dynamic court movements. A midfoot fit band allows cinching the laces tighter to enhance the fit and enable faster cuts.
The Shank is Back
The supportive plastic piece allowed Nike engineers to remove the rubber in the midfoot, which further reduced the weight. The split-sole design and plastic plate delivers optimal stability and transitions when cutting from side to side.
Zoom Air is Back
A heel Air Zoom unit helps keep you supported and springy throughout your match. In addition, a midsole foam was added between the plastic and rubber to help keep you light on your feet.
Outsole
The herringbone traction pattern is made of a new rubber compound which is lighter than the previous Vapors. It allows a direct cut, plant, and move back into position without feeling a loss in speed or stability
