Casper began playing tennis at age 4, and his dad Christian Ruud was a professional tennis player who got as high as 39 in the world. Ruud has spent a lot of time training at the Rafael Nadal Tennis Academy. In 2021 Ruud won three events in three weeks, the first time the feat has been accomplished since Andy Murray did it in 2011. Ruud has one of the games most feared forehands, and most comfortable on a clay court. Though his results on other surfaces are improving steadily. Ruud won 57 matches on the ATP Tour in 2021 on the way to his career high ranking of 8. He is the first Norwegian to win an ATP Tour title (7), crack into the Top 10 and qualify for Nitto ATP Finals.
