Five generations of Speed
The Ubersonic has been adidas' speed focused tennis shoe for five generations. Numerous professional players like Alexander Zverev, Angelique Kerber, and Jessica Pegula have worn the Ubersonic line on tour. What players have come to love about the shoe is how connected it keeps them to the court surface. Grigor Dimitrov and Hubert Hurkacz have made the switch to the new Adizero Ubersonic 5.
Fit
The shoes hug the foot nicely and there is NOT a ton of extra room. This shoe is about speed and there is not any wasted space. Because of the snug fit, we recommend going up a half size for the best comfort and performance.
Lightstrike Foam
It is a delicate balance with a shoe built for speed. It won't have a huge stack of foam for cushioning, because that would make the shoe less agile. This is where Lightstrike comes in. The foam is dual density that delivers an impressive combination of cushioning and support.
Speed Frame
Lightweight shoes tend to struggle with stability and support. To address this, adidas added the Speed Frame to the Ubersonic 5. The technology anchors a plastic frame under the heel and around the back of the foot to "lock" the foot in for speed and agility. The Speed frame construction allows the very lightweight shoe to be more resistant to twisting during intense on court movements.
Cool Comfort
A redesigned mesh upper features one of the industry's most comfortable bootie constructions. In key wear areas, the mesh is reinforced with an ADITUFF abrasion zone. In a first for the Ubersonic, an outsole cut out under the foot reveals a ventilation window to help keep the temperature down.
Who is the best fit for the ADIZERO Ubersonic 5?
The Ubersonic 5 is designed for tennis players who wish to move faster and with greater agility. Players will feel a strong connection to the court surface, solid cushioning, and more stability than any of the previous models. The Ubersonic does not match the durability found in an adidas Barricade, but it is faster and more explosive.
