Jakub "Menimal" Mensik began playing tennis at the age of 5 at the courts in front of his family's house. He enjoyed watching others play and started practicing with coach Ivo Muller. In Jakub's own words, "I fell in love with tennis through games and competitions." Mensik finished his junior career on the ITF circuit with a No. 3 ranking, making it as far as the finals of the Junior 2022 Australion Open singles event. Later in May 2023, Mensik would win his first Challenger event at the 2023 Sparta Progue Open, making him the youngest Czech player to do so at just 17 years old. That same year he qualified for the main draw of the US Open, making it to round 3 before getting eliminated by Taylor Fritz. His momentum would continue into 2024, qualifying for the Australion Open and later representing the Czech Republic at the Olympic Games. For the 2024 US Open, Mensik once again made it to the 3rd round, putting him into the top 55 rankings. He opened the 2025 season with a strong start, getting into the 3rd round at the Australian Open.
