Description

The Wilson Ultra 99 Pro V5 Tennis Racquet is the series' most control-oriented racquet. The slightly thinner tapered beam offers quick strike power that players have come to expect from an ultra, but with the 99 square inch head and open 16x18 string pattern, the Ultra Pro 99 brings some added control and spin to the court. The Ultra 99 Pro takes advantage of Wilson's SI3D Elite power flex for explosive power at high swing speeds to balance court penetration & control. Simply put, this is an Ultra racquet for players who wish to generate power on while on the move. For a player who has a more horizontal stroke, the Ultra 99 Pro will inject pace, power, and spin into their game.

Ultra 99 Pro Features:

-SI3D- Elite power flex for explosive power at high swing
speeds to balance court penetration & control.
-Dual taper beam that generates power from its height and
mobility from the aerodynamic shape.
-Inner hoop power grooves for additional power &
explosive feel on contact.
-Higher balance for powerful groundstrokes, especially
two-handed backhands.
-Unique 16x18 pattern that provides forgiveness & extra
spin, essential for high-stiffness rackets.

Expert Review

The most control-oriented Ultra, and the one for a Blade player who wants more muscle. A thinner, stiff, Steam-derived 99 with an open 16x18 that adds spin and forgiveness, and a head-heavy balance built to drive groundstrokes.

Great for: Intermediate to advanced players with full, fast swings who want power and spin from a control-leaning frame. The 16x18 pattern and inner hoop power grooves add pop and spin, especially for a flatter hitter, and the head-heavy balance drives the forehand and the two-handed backhand. A logical step up from the Ultra 100 for a stronger player.

Not ideal for: Beginners and players who want easy, forgiving power. The frame is stiff and head-heavy and asks you to keep the ball in with your own spin, so improvers should start with the Ultra 100, and control purists should look at the Blade.

Wilson Ultra 99

"I tried this racquet as a demo along with two others. I wanted to replace my Roger Federer autograph (a little heavy). This one does the trick. Power, control, balance, and feel. I love it!!"

Horace R. (5/5)

Love the racket as it

"Love the racket as it produces a lot of power and is very effortless at net, but wished it could generate more spin."

John N. (5/5)

Nice Change

"After years of trying to replace my beloved Wilson Burn racket, I think I’ve only found a winner. It has taken 12 years for me to find one with great control, power, and ability to produce an amazing amount of spin. I did use a lower tension (50) which has taken some adjusting, while forcing me to apply more spin."

Jocelyn H. (5/5)

Great racquet but demanding

"Great feel. n power but have to go all out to get the most of it."

Bach N. (5/5)

Great

"Great pop, great feel, great stick."
