Tomas "Tomy" Martin Etcheverry began playing tennis at the age of five, after receiving a paddle ball with string from his parents during a family beach vacation. He'd play with the toy for four hours each day and later asked his parents for tennis lessons, which is where his journey began. During his run in the ITF tour, Tomy won five singles titles and six doubles titles in addition to an ATP Challenger titles in doubles. He made his ATP main draw debut in the 2021 Delray Beach Open, and later that year would win his first ATP match at the Cordoba Open. His first ATP Challenger title was won in Perugia, Italy followed by another Challenger title win in Trieste, Italy. 2022 marked his Grand Slam debut at the Australian Open, making his way through the qualifiers into the main draw. After breaking into the top 100, Tomy got direct entry into the rest of the Grand Slams that year. In 2023, Tomy made his ATP Masters debut at Indian Wells and ended the year strong as Argentina's No. 2 player and in the ATP top 30.
