Nicholas Hilmy Kyrgios, or Kygs, started playing tennis at age 7 with his mother, Norlaila. Enjoys playing on all surfaces and considers the serve his best shot. His most notable successes came in 2014 when he reached the Men's Singles Quarterfinals at Wimbledon and in 2015 when he reached the Men's Singles Quarterfinals at the Australian Open. He listens to a variety of music but specifically likes Lil Wayne, Drake and Rihanna. Enjoys watching and playing basketball, his favorite NBA team is Boston Celtics and favorite player is Kevin Garnett. Idols growing up were Federer, Tsonga, LeBron James and Michael Jordan. Considers Wimbledon and US Open his favorite tournaments. He was awarded with Australia’s Newcombe Medal in 2014, which is given annually to Australia’s most outstanding tennis player. He has established the NK Foundation to help underprivileged youth a safe place to learn sports. He has trained at the Australian Institute of Sport since 2012 alongside Tennis Australia and competes with Team Australia regularly in the Davis Cup/ATP Cup competitions.
