Margarita Gasparyan started playing tennis at the age of five with her father, Melik. She was born and raised in Moscow, doing most of her tennis training there. Her tennis idols growing up were Maria Sharapova and Roger Federer. She watched Wimbledon for the first time at 10 years old and remembers Sharapova winning the title giving her much inspiration to reach the pro level. She played in her first WTA tournament in 2010 at the Kremlin Cup in Moscow. In 2015 she won her first WTA Singles and Doubles title at Baku eventually finishing the year ranked inside the top 100. In addition to her WTA titles, she has won 3 Singles and 1 Doubles title on the ITF Circuit. Her favorite surface is hard court, and favorite tournament is the Australian Open. Gasparyan loves to hit serves, forehands and backhands. She enjoys dancing, reading and spending time with her family.
