Lorenzo Sonego Tennis Shoes & More

Racquets, Shoes, Bags, and Accessories

Lorenzo Sonego did not grow up a tennis player, but he did grow up admiring the greats like Roger Federer and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga. His main focus in his youth was in soccer, having idolized Ronaldinho and playing at the Torino youth academy until the age of 13. Instead, he began focusing more on tennis when he was 11 after encouragement from both his father and his coach. He made his ATP tour debut at the 2016 Italian Open, and then in 2017 he would claim his first Challenger title at the Sparkassen ATP Challenger. At the 2020 French Open, Sonego set the record for the longest tiebreak in the tournament's history, playing against Taylor Fritz to the third set and winning with a 19-17 score. This match demonstrated Sonego's penchant for grinding out long, grueling sets, a skill he would demonstrate again at Wimbledon in 2025. There he matched up against Brandon Nakashima in the 4th round, where they played a set lasting over 5 hours long before Sonego finally came out the winner.
