Even in his teen years, Hyeon Chung established himself as one of the best tennis players in South Korea’s history. He began playing tennis at age 6, and he was an outstanding junior player who trained at the IMG Academy in Florida. He began competing on the ITF Junior tour in 2012, and was runner-up in the 2013 Wimbledon Boys' Singles, a month after winning his first Futures title. He made a name for himself on the pro tour when he claimed the 2017 ATP Next Gen Finals title and beat Novak Djokovic at the 2018 Australian Open Quarterfinals. His favorite shot is his backhand, and his favorite tournament is Wimbledon. Chung was voted the ATP’s Most Improved Player in 2015.
