Fransisco was destined to be a pro athlete: his father Alejandro played pro in the past, and his brother Juan Manuel is also currently on the ATP tour. His sister, Maria Constanza, was also part of Team Argentina and won a gold medal at the 2018 Youth Olympic Games. Fran began playing tennis at the age of 5 at a Beunos Aires academy run by his parents. He made his ATP debut at the 2019 Argentina Open, then in 2021 reached his first final again at that year's Argentina Open where he was defeated by his fellow countryman Diego Schwartzman. Throughout 2022, he rose through the rankings and broke into the top 100 in rankings, topping of the year with a top 30 placement.
