Dayana Oleksandrívna Yastremska was born in Odessa, Ukraine and started playing tennis at age 5. She started training at the Justin Henin Tennis Academy as a teenager, and reached a career-high junior ranking No. 6 as a 15 year old. After winning her first ITF title in Brazil she turned pro and competed in the Istanbul Cup as a 16 year old. In 2018 she made her grand slam debut, her first top WTA 100 ranking and captured her first WTA Singles title in Hong Kong. She has another breakout year in 2019 capturing two more WTA Singles titles in Hua Hin and Strasbourg, while also reaching the 4th round of Wimbledon. She currently coached by Sascha Bajin, who helped Serena Williams, Victoria Azarenka and Naomi Osaka all win grand slam singles titles.
