David Goffin, nicknamed "La Goff", started playing tennis at age six. He was taught to play tennis by his father, Michel, who is a tennis coach at the Barchon Club in Liege. His favorite surface is hard court and hobbies include golfing and relaxing. David became the first lucky loser to reach the 4th round in his Grand Slam main draw debut at the 2012 Roland Garros. He's advanced to Grand Slam Quarterfinals at the 2016 Roland Garros, 2017 Australian Open and 2019 Wimbledon Championships. He became the 1st Belgian to reach an ATP Masters 1000 final at the 2019 Western and Southern Open. He's also reached the ATP Masters 1000 Semifinals at the 2016 BNP Paribas Open, 2016 Miami Open, 2017 Monte-Carlo Masters and 2018 Western and Southern Open. His favorite quote is "impossible is nothing", and Roger Federer was his idol growing up. He was named 2014 ATP Comeback Player of the year after undergoing a season-ending left wrist surgery in late 2013.
