Tennis Bags

It depends on how many racquets you carry. Beginners and recreational players typically do well with a 3-pack bag or backpack holding one to two racquets plus basics. Intermediate and competitive players usually want a 6-pack, which fits three to six racquets plus compartments for shoes and apparel. Tournament players who travel with multiple frames at different tensions, backup racquets, and multiple outfit changes generally go with a 9-pack or 12-pack.

Backpacks carry one to three racquets hands-free, making them practical for players who walk, bike, or take transit to the court. Racquet duffels offer more capacity, in 3-pack through 12-pack configurations, with dedicated compartments for multiple frames and complete gear setups. Backpacks work for casual players with lighter loads; larger bags suit competitive players who need room for multiple strung racquets, shoes, and apparel changes.

A 6-pack bag, the most common choice for competitive players, comfortably holds four to six racquets depending on head size and whether you use individual covers. Covers reduce capacity but protect frames from contact. Smaller 3-pack bags hold one to three racquets; 9-pack and 12-pack options hold six to twelve and work well for tournament players and coaches.

Most do. Dedicated shoe compartments typically include ventilation or mesh panels to reduce odor and allow moisture to evaporate, which matters especially for clay court players. Backpacks often include ventilated shoe pockets; larger duffels usually feature a separate zippered shoe tunnel. Placement varies by bag, but the goal is consistent: keep dirty soles away from clean gear.

Thermal-lined racquet compartments, water-resistant fabric, and padded adjustable shoulder straps are the baseline. Beyond that: ventilated shoe compartments, multiple accessory pockets for grips and dampeners, and a protected valuables section for phones and wallets. Durable materials like 600-denier polyester or ballistic nylon hold up to repeated use. Insulated drink pockets and ergonomic handles are worth having if you're carrying the bag frequently.
