Marketa was born in Sokolov, Czech Republic and began playing tennis at age 4 with her father. Although she enjoyed playing tennis and soccer growing up, she ultimately stuck with tennis at age 10 because she preferred the individual nature of the sport. At 15 years of age she moved to Prague by herself to train and compete at the highest level. In 2017 she broke through to capture her first WTA Singles title in Biel as a qualifier, her second WTA main draw appearance. In 2019 she had another stellar season reaching the Women's Singles Final at Roland Garros, Budapest, and Istanbul at age 19. Her favorite surface is clay, but believes her game is best suited for hard courts. Her tennis idol is Roger Federer.
