Meet the Yonex Muse: The Arm-Friendly Tennis Racquet Built for Fun

If you have ever walked off the court feeling more beat up than energized, the Yonex Muse series was made with you in mind. Five years in development, this new lineup arrives with a singular focus: making the game feel easier, more fluid, and more fun, without sacrificing the power and control serious players demand.

The Muse is designed for effortless, stress-free rallying, built to address the common sources of mental and physical stress players experience during long points. That makes it one of the best options on the market for recreational players, rising intermediates, and anyone who needs a great racquet for tennis elbow or general arm sensitivity.

What Makes the Muse Different

Every Muse racquet is built around the Synchro Frame, a structural concept that brings three of Yonex's proven technologies together to deliver one result: a racquet that works with your body instead of against it.

The Synchro Frame synchronizes ISOMETRIC, Uniform Impact Grommet, and the Energy Flow Shaft to deliver smooth handling, stable performance, and reduced fatigue, allowing players to rally longer with confidence and ease.

Here is what that means for your game.

A Bigger Sweet Spot, Less Arm Stress

The square-shaped ISOMETRIC frame generates a 7% larger sweet spot compared to a conventional round frame and delivers greater control without sacrificing power. A larger sweet spot means fewer jarring mishits and less shock traveling into your wrist, forearm, and elbow on every swing. For players managing tennis elbow (See our Strings for Tennis Elbow Blog) or looking to prevent it, that reduction in impact stress adds up over the course of a match.

Forgiving String Response on Every Hit

The Uniform Impact Grommet is a newly developed feature that changes how the strings respond across the entire face. A straight-grommet structure at all four corners increases string movement, producing a more uniform and forgiving response for both center and off-center hits. The result is a softer, more consistent feel that takes the sting out of contact, especially during long baseline exchanges.

Vibration Where You Don't Want It, Gone

The Energy Flow Shaft features a carefully engineered concave shape that balances stiffness and flex, further enhanced with Servo Filter, an elastic, highly adhesive material that refines vibration and feel. Players who have dealt with arm pain will recognize this immediately: the unpleasant buzz that travels up the handle after a hard hit is dramatically reduced. It is the kind of detail that makes the Muse a genuinely arm-friendly tennis racquet, not just one that markets itself as one.

What You Will Love About the Yonex Muse

  • The Synchro Frame dramatically reduces arm and shoulder fatigue, so you can play more and recover faster.
  • The ISOMETRIC sweet spot makes mishits far less punishing, which is particularly valuable for players managing tennis elbow.
  • The Servo Filter material absorbs vibration before it reaches your hand and arm, a benefit that compounds across every session.
  • Five models cover a wide range of players, from beginners to strong intermediates, with weight and head size options for every need.
  • The open 16x18 string pattern on the 100 and 107 generates easy topspin without demanding a heavy swing.

The Lineup

The Muse series includes five models: the Muse 98, Muse 100, Muse 100L, Muse 100SL, and Muse 107. All five share the same Synchro Frame technology and silver matte aesthetic. The Muse 98 suits players who want more precision and control. The Muse 100 and 100L offer the best balance of power, spin, and maneuverability for intermediate players. The 100L, at under 10.5 ounces with a 303 swingweight, glides through contact with remarkable ease. The Muse 107, with the most forgiving head size in the family, is perfect for those who crave speed, comfort, and controllable power.

Playtester Comments

"The MUSE racquets are something different from Yonex. While the PERCEPT line also has low flex ratings, MUSE delivers a sub-60 flex rating and is easier to pick up and play. My favorite in the lineup was the MUSE 100. The 16x18 string pattern makes it so easy to create spin, and at 10.4 ounces, it is mobile as well. I think intermediate and beginner players will love the combination of power, comfort, and spin. When hitting with the 100, I was getting tons of net clearance and solid stability from the back of the court. You don't have to swing the racquet like a pro to enjoy this model.

As far as the MUSE 98, I could not believe how much control it had. When I was on time and set up, the MUSE 98 offered pinpoint accuracy. Despite the rest of the MUSE line being incredibly user-friendly, the MUSE 98 is more for advanced players who can supply their own power. It is still a very comfortable racquet, but it doesn't "help" with depth and net clearance as easily as the 100, 100L, and the rest. For experienced players who want a high-performance racquet that is easy on the arm, the MUSE 98 is ideal for you!

All of that said, the best MUSE racquet for most people will be the MUSE 100."

"I don't hit with Yonex racquets very often, so I was pleasantly surprised at how accessible the MUSE was during the playtest. At 305g, the MUSE 98 is in that range where many intermediate/advanced racquets are these days (not too heavy but not light, either). The maneuverability of the racquet is top-notch. I have a long, fast swing, and I like that I can swing without my arm tiring out too fast. That said, since I have such an exaggerated swing, I need a racquet that is not going to send my shot soaring into the back fence, and I don't have to worry about that with this frame whatsoever. I could swing very hard with this racquet, knowing that my ball would land within the baseline. That might have something to do with this racquet's open string pattern (16x18), which generated that little extra topspin on my groundstrokes.

I was surprised by how soft and plush hitting with this racquet felt. I typically go for heavier frames with smaller heads, but I actually enjoyed hitting with the MUSE 100 more this time. Something about its lightweight and bigger sweet spot had me feeling like I could hit whatever I wanted. My serves were big, groundstrokes smooth, and volleys sturdy. I would recommend this racquet to juniors and intermediates for sure, but I'm sure there will be plenty of advanced players looking for Yonex tech in a more approachable frame."
