Soon Woo Kwon was born in Sanju, South Korea to Younghun and Alumni, along with his two sisters Hakyung and Sookyung. Younghun, his father, enjoyed tennis and introduced him to the sport. The young pro started playing tennis at the mere age of 10, and later moved to Seoul to further develop his tennis career at 16 years old. In 2015, 18 year old Kwon went pro, and in 2018 he had his first run with tour-level and Grand Slam in the Australian Open. He rose into the top 100 at World No. 97 when he made it to the quarterfinals at the 2019 Los Cabos Open, and in Nur-Sultan Kwon Won his Maiden ATP title. Since then, Kwon has risen to career high of No.76.
