Fabio Fognini, also known as "Fogna," began playing tennis at age four. His father, Fulvio, a business man who owns his own business and Silvana who is a stay at home housewife. He speaks four different languages: Italian, English, Spanish and French. He is known for his counter punching style of play, using penetrating ground strokes and skillful hands at net. He's one of the few professionals that's gotten better with age. In 2018 he won a career-high 46 matches and 3 ATP Singles titles. In 2019 he beat Rafa Nadal in route to the Monte-Carlo title becoming the 1st Italian to win a Masters 1000 Singles title. In June 2019 he became the oldest player to break into the Top 10 for first time at age 32 and the first Italian in the Top 10 since 1979. One of his favorite hobbies is watching football especially Inter Milan FC and Genoa C.F.C. His favorite surface to play on is red clay and has won 8 of his 9 ATP titles on clay. In 2016 he married tennis champion Flavia Pennetta and now has a son named Federico.
