Babolat Pure Storm GT Racquet Review

From the start I found an extremely smooth and solid response from the Babolat Pure Storm Tour GT. On groundies off-center shots are not as harsh as with similar racquets, shots hit in the sweet-spot are smooth and silky. I find off the ground is where the frame excels with a solid, predictable feel that allows me to put the ball where I want. The open string pattern helps impart tons of spin for both topspin and slice shots and players with long strokes will love this frame and the feedback it provides. The new GT technology really comes out on groundstrokes and help makes this frame stand out.

I love the feel, stability and overall control at the net. I find the level of power, comfort and stability this racquet offers at net excellent, and again the GT technology really stands out. The response of the racquet on low and angle volleys is unmatched. I am also impressed by the maneuverability, considering it offers such a solid feel on contact. Overall I love the feel of my volleys with this racquet and the pop I get. When going for short angle and touch volleys, I have no worries that I'd find my targets consistently and with excellent pace.

The racquet provides plenty of control and spin although I have to work to get that extra pop. I do find a really consistent and controlled response when serving and I have no issue getting a lot of spin on serves. It has no where near the pop you get from the Pure Drive or Aero Pro Drive series but it is solid and smooth. I truly enjoy the control, finding it extremely helpful when I do have to go for that extra effort on a flat serves. The combination of maneuverability, solid response, and flexibility make it for me a very comfortable racquet while serving. I do find that I have to work a bit more to create pace on my serves, and it does take a little more effort in a long match. Inexperienced players beware as over a long hot match all that extra effort could take its toll.

Overall I find that the comfort and spin on the Pure Storm Tour GT is outstanding. Babolat's new GT technology provides an even more stable and solid feel than previously. I love the solid stability and enjoy the comfort from all areas on the court. This racquet is a true player’s frame. Its classic feel and response makes it a great fit for advanced players (NTRP 4.0+) who have strong long and fast strokes.
