Danielle was born in St. Petersburg, FL to parents Walter and Cathy. She started playing at the age of 3 when her dad introduced her to the sport recreationally. Danielle started playing ITF tournaments in 2009, but decided to play college tennis at the University of Virginia before turning pro in 2016. While at college she was a leading member of her team winning the NCAA Singles titles in 2014 and 2016. After turning pro, she broke through the WTA rankings in 2018 reaching the 4th round at Indian Wells and Semifinals at the Miami Open. She followed this up with a stellar Women's Singles Semifinal run at the 2019 Australian Open. Her favorite surface is hard court and she enjoys going to the beach, fishing and running in her spare time.
