Croatian-born Bernarda Pera moved to the US at the age of 16 for opportunity to grow her tennis career. She made her WTA debut at the 2014 US Open in the doubles bracket after receiving a wildcard entry. In 2017, she quickly ascended the rankings, rising nearly 200 places to end the season at No. 127. 2022 was a breakthrough year for Pera, winning back-to-back singles titles in Budapest and Hamburg, ending achieving a career-high ranking of No. 27. Her deepest run in a Grand Slam event happened in 2023 at the French Open, where she reached the 4th round.
