As far as aesthetics go Dunlop knocked it out of the park with this frame. The color combinations and overall paint scheme make this one of the best looking frames for 2011. Dunlop also listened to player feedback and added a slightly lighter 16 x19 version for players that looking for a more spin friendly version of the frame.

 

The Biomimetic 200 Lite uses all of the technologies that made the 4D 200 such a great playing frame and adds a couple of twists. The use of HM6 Carbon mimics a honeycomb structure. This efficient structure has been used in most high performance aerospace systems. Aeroskin was developed using lessons engineers have learned about a shark’s skin reduces drag allowing it to be a more efficient predator. So with that said I bet you wonder if the 200 Lite will make you more deadly on the court? Let’s find out.

The open string pattern was evident in an A/B comparison with the Biomimetic 200. As it allowed significantly more spin to be generated for the same effort. Whether you are hitting a flat, kick or slice serve, this racket is capable. The lighter weight makes generating racket head speed easier for a slight boost in power. This is still a low power frame that requires very good technique to generate power, but it is easier to do so with this frame versus the Bio 200. The open pattern’s benefits did not come at a great reduction in accuracy so I would call this a win.

 

If you use a lot of topspin and like controlling points with your aggressive groundstrokes, I think you will like what you find here. Great spin production and excellent control. The sweetspot is a little Iarger and off center hits are slightly less harsh when compared to the Bio 200. I also loved hitting low short slice backhands to draw opponents forward, opening the court to pass them with a forehand on the next shot. In a word Sweet! This frame reminds me of a less demanding version of the Wilson Six One Tour.

 

The Dunlop 200 frames historically have always been an excellent racket at net and the latest installment does not disappoint. This is a skilled players dream at the net. If you miss a volley it is because you hit it that way. The behavior is impeccable very much like the Bio 200, just with more bite. The reduced weight is a plus in doubles as lightning fast exchanges are enhanced by the maneuverability of this frame.

 

So if you are a player that has a game centered around versatile use of spin, placement, and power to drive your opponents crazy, you should really give this frame a try. Actually I would recommend both Bio 200 frames to figure out which one is most ideally suited for your game. Check the review of the sister frame for the small differences between them.
