Djokovic owns Nadal in Cincinnati Masters Semi-Finals!

Nadal is gonna have to wait for two more weeks before becoming the next world’s No. 1, as Djokavic destroys him in the Cincinnati Masters Semi-Finals. YES!

Rafael Nadal’s 32-consecutive winning streak to become world’s No. 1 was shattered on Saturday against Novak Djokovic in the Cincinnati Masters Cup. After a 1 hour and 25 minute match and a final score of 6-1, 7-5, Djokovic walks off the court victorious. He moves on to the finals against British No. 1 Andy Murray. By losing in the semi-finals, Nadal’s advancement to world’s No. 1 is delayed for two more weeks. If Nadal was able to defeat Djokovic, he would have been able to become No. 1 by August 11th for just reaching the finals, too bad! Nadal’s lucky winning streak this year, having won the last three meetings and Wimbledon, was not enough to get him through the decisive match.

Djokovic started the match off with a blast, leading up 5-0 against Nadal and captured the first set in less than 30 minutes. In the second set Nadal fought hard to make a comeback, almost taking a break point at 3-2, but failed to do so. Djokovic finishes the match with a b-e-a-utiful forehand volley winner, closing the match at 7-5 and upholding his statement that "no player is unbeatable."

Match statistics indicate that Djokovic converted three out of four break points while poor Nadal was never able to break a service game. Djokovic also won 76 percent of second serve points while Nadal only won 47 percent. Djokovic hit a total of 11 winners compared to Nadal’s only two winners. Nadal still leads a 4-2 match record on hard courts against Djokovic.

After holding the spot as No. 2 for 158 weeks, Roger Federer will sadly be succeeded by Nadal as No. 1 after holding the current top record of 235 consecutive weeks, followed by the legendary Jimmy Connors with 160 consecutive weeks. Although Nadal is already guaranteed his spot as the world’s No. 1, he is going to have to wait until August 18th before joining Carlos Moya and Juan Carlos Ferrero as the third Spaniard to claim the No. 1 title.
