With this new GT version of the Pure Drive 107 I found a very powerful, comfortable racquet with even more power than past Pure Drives. It offers the maneuverability and spin-friendliness of the Pure Drive line, but in a more forgiving oversize head size. The 107 packs more punch from all areas of the court.

 

 

 

 

 

From the baseline this is a power and spin monster. No need at all to take a full or long swing as the frame will do most of the work. Just taking a smooth mid paced swing was more than enough to generate full court drives with pace and spin. Due to the larger head size off center hits are comfortable and control is very good, which was a surprise with all the power I was able to generate. Despite the tremendous power I was still able to flatten the ball out and rip it.

 

Again power and spin are the name of the game. I had no problem generating tons of spin and power and I was able to swing away on all types of serves. The added spin to my kick serves gave my second serve added bite without much effort. Control is good and I was able to place my serves, but the power and spin I was able to generate was what stood out. I enjoyed just going for it on serves and loved the comfort the frame provided even on mishits.

 

At net the racquet is light and mobile so moving around at the net and getting the racket on the ball was effortless. Big power at the net and on overheads, again I found all I had to do was make contact and allow the frame to do all the work. The 16 x 19 open string pattern is huge for spin but here at the net it does bring out some negatives. I did have some issues on drop shots and touch volleys so control at the net is so so at best. But on high put aways or sitters that is where the PD 107 shines.

 

With its versatility from all areas of the court the Pure Drive 107 is a good solid choice for the intermediate level player no matter the style play. Both singles and doubles players should demo this racquet. The highlights are the serve, shot depth, spin generation and baseline control; very much suited for players with moderate to full strokes. I would recommended this racquet for the 3.0+ NTRP level players.
