What the Men are Wearing at Wimbledon

A shift in men’s tennis has occurred, and it feels like it is 2007 again. The talks of London and the two favorites to win Wimbledon are Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal, and neither has broken a sweat through round 3. Both players rarely change their Nike styles (as their clothes are all custom-made for to their liking) so we will see them on the court in a variation of their early 2017 wardrobe. Rafa has not changed a bit and is still wearing the Aeroreact Challenger Tennis Top and his traditional Nike Court Ballistec Tennis Shoes. Roger on the other hand has altered his top from a polo to more of a henley style.  Because of its very small collar, The Advantage Tennis Polo can barely be called that. It does however function better in the summer than a more traditional polo due to increased breathability. Federer will wear this style for this tournament and the remainder of the hard court season as well.

Nipping at these pros heels are Andy Murray and Novak Djokovic. There is only one way to describe Murray’s outfit: Traditional. He is wearing an all-white outfit curated by Under Armour. On the court he has been sporting a polo and very structured shorts. He has also breezed by his opponents, but his draw is about to get a whole lot tougher starting with Fabio Fognini, a player that he lost to just months ago. Djokovic has switched from Uniqlo to Lacoste, and is wearing a very thick and classy while polo. He is pairing that polo with white Taffeta Tennis Shorts and his Novak Pro Tennis Shoes  from adidas (in a custom white and green colorway). These two players also have very defined styles and brands that have made outfits and shoes specifically for them. Now let’s take a look at some of the players who have made their personal styles work with less brand endorsement!

Benoit Paire, a budding top 30 professional, is wearing a mix of a couple different brands. Adhering to Wimbledon’s all-white policy but still maintaining his personal style, Paire is wearing the Men’s Propulse All Court Tennis Shoes in Navy and White. To match his shoes and match his flashy beard, he is using the Babolat Pure Aero French Open colorway.

One player who is never shies away from acting like himself is Gael Monfils. We first heard about him for his physics-defying winners and his goofy on-court behavior, but as he has matured in age, his shenanigans have wound down a bit. This is not to say that he isn’t a flashy player though. His energetic playstyle is enhanced by the crispy white Athlete Cooling Tennis Top that he has been wearing at Wimbledon. Although he was rumored to be trying to transition to the Gel Court FF Tennis Shoes from ASICS, he continues to use the Gel Resolution 7’s, now in white and silver.

One athlete that is turning heads and looking to win his first ever Grand Slam is Milos Raonic. He has hovered around the top 5 for the last two years, but hasn’t sustained a level of consistency to become a major tournament threat. On arguably his best surface, Raonic is looking to potentially make the upset on one of the big 4 players, and the first one on his path will be Roger Federer. Raonic will be wearing a variation of his 2017 French Open outfit. His top is the Men’s Tournament Wimbledon Tennis Polo and his shoes are the 996v3 D Width Tennis Shoes, all produced by New Balance.

Each one of these players will have a tough road ahead of them, but with high-functioning and stylish clothes,  sturdy shoes, and the right attitude, they can win it all. I will be watching these guys battle it out for the top spot, and I hope you will to. There is masterful and exciting tennis still left to be played at Wimbledon 2017.
