Wilson BLX Six-One 95 18x20 Tennis Racquet Review

buy this racquet demo this racquet

The 95 square inch cousin to the Six-One tour is still a player frame but much more forgiving. The aero shaped beam , lower swing weight coupled with a head light balance makes this a great advanced player racket. The sweet spot is significantly larger than the 90 racket. Spin production is still very good but the 18 x 20 pattern is more suited for control. The larger head size clearly generates more power as well.

It appears that the sweet spot is slightly larger that the K-factor but this may be the Basalt fibers at work removing harsh unwanted vibration. Because of the dense string pattern there is little reduction in control as compared to the six-one tour BLX.

Serving with this racquet is impressive. Accuracy is very good but it is a little low on power. Overall it is a nice blend of control and power. It may take 30 minutes to get dialed in serving with this racket but it is worth the effort.

At the net maneuverability is great for a player frame. The control of volleys both high and low was exemplary . This would make a great frame for a serve and volley or advanced doubles player.

From the baseline the precision allows you to hit a little closer to the lines. The ability slice shots are quite good. The racket is very good in a rally allowing you to really tee off and flatten out shots to end points. As with the other BLX rackets, the Basalt fibers impact on the racket are evident and enhance the feel of the frame.

This racket is best used by 4.5 - 7.0 tournament players. With lower tensions rapidly improving 4.0 should demo this frame as well.

If you are strong or use gut or lively synthetic strings start at the middle of the tension range if you have been using a tweener frame. Consider starting with a little lower on tension with poly strings due to the dense string pattern
