Too Old To Play Tennis? Really?

I remember a few years back watching Todd Martin jumping on the tennis courts to take on a younger player in a tournament series. Martin (being 33) played a 20-year old opponent and was referred to by the commentator as a dinosaur.

Which brings me to to this week's topic...

What age is considered too old in Professional Tennis today?

In a sport dominated by the lower end of 20 somethings, the professional tennis industry has everyone fooled into thinking age DOES matter.

And it does.. to an extent.

Sports medicine, training techniques and dietary habits have come a loooong way from where we were 10 years ago allowing older athletes to endure the wear and tear of an agressive sport.

In the NBA, 40-pluus year old Dikembe Mutombo still dominates the boards and may be contemplating a return to the courts dominated by 20-somethings.

So what do you think? Agassi retired at 36. When do you think Nadal and Federer will retire?
Davenport is still going strong at 32 and she just had a baby...

Does age matter in Tennis?
