Right when I picked up the racquet, the first thing I noticed is that it’s big, really big, and very light. Generally, large, light racquets give lots of power and no control. To my surprise, the frame exceeded my expectations for a spin friendly and forgiving frame with enough power to trump the court.
 Groundstrokes I figured that this would be a rocket launcher on groundies. I warned my opponent to watch for balls screaming towards his head. However, I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of control this racquet provided. Not to say the least that I definitely had to tone down my swing speed, but not as much as I initially thought I would. This frame provided plenty of power and I was able to direct tAlthough not ahe tennis ball with relative ease. baseliner’s ideal racquet, the EXO3 Silver 115 held its ground from the backcourt. The frame resonated with superb spin as there was definitely much more surface area to work with to nail down the topspin. Serves/Returns With a relatively large oversized head, patience on shots was a necessary adjustment and is key for a successful slow and steady stroke. The adjustment period was quick after I was able to make direct successive ball contact with the sweetspot, which was not hard at all given a colossal surface to drive the ball home. The oversize head gave lots of confidence and you feel like you can hit everything back. The sweetspot is pretty large and off-center shots remained very stable. Serves were predictable but not amazingly powerful. I was able to control the speed and direction well with such a maneuverable frame. Players prefer to remain agile and mobile throughout the court will love this frame. Volleys/Overheads As expected, overheads were hard to miss. This Prince EXO3 Silver 115 Racquet provided lots of confidence to master overheads. A solid feel combined with the headsize and light weight allowed me to make minute changes to adjust to varying types of volleys. Maneuverable-wise, it was extremely useful against quick paced balls heading straight towards me at the net. I did have to make sure to punch the ball as any usual swing from the mid court area to the net line would definitely send the ball sailing straight towards the fence. Overall This was a surprising playtest in the aspect that I got something different than I expected. I had saw a frame that would launch my balls with explosive force knowing I’d be knocking down the back fence due to no control, however, what I got was a solid, large-headed stick that was reliable and built confidence. This would be a great racquet for the doubles specialists and slower swinging players that need just a little bit of help with power and prefer a more moderate paced game. |
