Prince EXO3 Ignite Racquet Review

This is a player’s stick without a lot of stick behind it. At 11.8 ounces (around 12.2 strung) it’s a hefty racquet with mid-plus mass (95 square inches) that just buries balls into corners. Smooth, muscled swingers will really dig this new generation of Ignite frames. The more dampened and muted feel definitely tones down those always errant shots of the ‘long’ variety? If that’s your malady (and it is for many of us), the Prince EXO3 Ignite would be a wise choice.

It’s not a whippy, get-it-through-the-hitting zone frame by any means. You’ll need to ‘power up’ yourself with this as it’s pretty muted. Player’s looking for a bit more feel or maneuverability would be wise to shy away from this wand.

Looking for a bit more plow through or punch from the baseline and at net? This heavy-duty baby is solidly spectacular in those regards. The Prince EXO3 Ignite is like a performance enhancer for gritty groundstrokers....without having to take a drug test. It’s got a huge-feeling sweetspot considering its 95 square inches. It just takes awhile to get used to the heavier feel.

Prince has nicely added some customization features to the frame for those techies out there. The interchangeable grommets give the player his/her choice of either a more powerful response or a more controlled one.

It’s a nice little tweak that allows for some fun experimentation (I actually used the power more as I was trying to max it out!). Use the string port insert for more power, or leave it behind for an added dose of control.
