Head Youtek IG Extreme MP Racquet Review

buy this racquet demo this racquet

The Youtek IG Extreme MP (16x19) features Head’s latest new material known as Innegra (IG) that builds on previous innovations such as the Teflon grommet system and d3o technology. The design of the d3o technology is made to give a player optimum power and a great sense of touch with varying types of stroke techniques. The Teflon grommets enhance a more solid and crisp response, allowing for a controlled feel and reduction in unstable force that would otherwise torque the frame.

Groundstrokes:

When hitting my ground-strokes with this racquet, the tennis ball seemed to pop and explode from the baseline with a fast and forceful swing. Power came with ease for a crushing return. However, I did have to slow down my swing speed every now and then to get a more controlled shot when I needed less pace. When on the run I was able to hit biting slices that stayed low and deep in the court. I loved the way my slices felt on this racquet. It provided a lot of power and spin, but lacked a little bit of control for a player’s tour level frame. For a player who prides themselves in spin generation this racquet will be a dream.

Volleys:

At the net, it did not take much to get crisp, solid volleys. The fairly light static weight allowed easy access to maneuverability around the net as well giving way to preparing volley responses without much difficulty. As for shots that headed straight towards me at the net, I was able to easily adjust for a solid contact point at the sweet spot. The 100 mid plus head size also made it forgiving when hitting off centered shots as well.

Serves:

The frame naturally gave way to a great deal of power and I was able togenerate a lot of downward force to get great plow-through on my serves. In addition to power, there was an abundance of spin from the racquet’s open 16x19 string pattern. Serving either a kick or slice serve was a breeze. I have never hit so many out wide slice aces before. Again if you are a magician of spin this is the racquet for you!

Overall:

Overall, the Head Youtek IG Extreme MP is a great racquet for a player who is looking for a more flexible frame to provide plenty of power an spin. I would recommend this racquet for a player who enjoys hitting from the baseline with deep shot full of top-spin into the court. This would also be a great substitution for a player who is looking for a more flexible racquet compared to the Babolat Pure Drive. I would recommend this frame for players with a NTPR of 4.0 or higher or if you are a player looking for an abundance of spin.
