BUYING GUIDE

Do items fit true to size?
For exact specifications about each brand and their individual sizing guides, see our Sizing Charts.

How often do I need to restring my racquet?
Strings are constantly losing tension, so it is commonly recommended to replace your racquet’s strings every 3-4 months. The more you play, the more your racquets need to be re-strung.

What racquets are good for reducing tennis elbow?
Generally speaking, lighter racquets with larger heads and sweet spots are easier on the elbow. It’s hard to say exactly what racquet is best for your specific case, but something with dampening technology (Pro Kennex Kinetic and Volkl are both well known for their tennis elbow-friendly racquets) would probably be a good fit. To get an answer for your specific question, call Tennis Express at 1-800-833-6615 and ask for a specialist.

What is the difference between a 27” racquet and a 27.5" one?
27” is regulation length. The extra half inch on the handle of the 27.5” provides more power and reach.

What grip size should I get?
Typically, the average woman should get a grip between 4 1/8” and 4 3/8”; for an average man, it typically falls between 4 1/2” and 4 3/4”. To get an exact measurement, you need take a measurement from the middle crease in your palm, down the line between your ring and middle fingers and to the height of your ring finger. Remember, it’s easier to play with a grip that is too large, but a smaller grip can be extended ever so slightly by an overwrap.

We also have an extensive Buyer’s Guide – check to see if the answer to your question is there.
