Ground Strokes
The dense 18x20 string pattern combined with the 93 square inch head makes this a very control-oriented and demanding racquet. I got a very solid feel off the ground and was able to plow through the ball nicely. I easily was able to move the ball around the court and hit my spots. It is just a little underpowered for my preference. The more you hit out the better the racquet felt. The Youtek Prestige Mid is the most control oriented of the Head frames, but delivered for me when I was going for big shots. It is a little jarring when hitting outside of the sweet spot because the head size is very small and low powered. It’s a great racquet for someone with long fast ground strokes. It has excellent feel and control, and I was able to generate good backspin on my slices. The shots did tend to land a bit short but after a small adjustment I had no issues.

 

 

 

 

 

Volleys
The touch at net with this stick was exceptional. I had excellent feel going for angle volleys and hitting drop volleys. The margin of error is small so putaway shots must be right on the sweet spot. The head light balance helps with the control and maneuverability. I found I was able to be really aggressive, and still found the touch needed for angled and drop volleys.

 

Serves
It offered a very nice sweet spot but I found I had to really work to bring the racquet through on my service motion. The small sweet spot and heavy weight force you to hit dead on the sweet spot or you will lose almost all power and spin. I had trouble hitting my 2nd serve with kick for this same reason. This is a very tough racquet to serve with.

 

Serve Returns
Again, it is a demanding racquet when returning serve. I was able to take huge rips off my opponents 2nd serve but again when I hit off the sweet spot I had trouble getting any power. Returning high serves are tough due to the low power. If the ball didn't find the sweet spot then the loss of power left my shots very short and lacking pace.

 

Overall
I found the Youtek Prestige Mid to be a very demanding frame and maybe the most demanding between the MID, MIDPLUS and PRO versions. A 93 square inch head size combined with a tight 18x20 string pattern creates a small and firm sweet spot. The swing weight of this racquet for sure would help players who take a full and solid cut at the ball. The racquet offers a ton of control, stability and feel. I would recommend this racquet for any player at a 4.0 and higher rating or if you have long fast ground strokes.
