Ellesse Tennis

Founded in 1959 by Leonardo Servadio as a fashion ski apparel company, Ellesse has made its way to the Tennis Express. Named after his initials, L&S (elle-esse), started the company in Perugia, Italy. Combining fashion and functionality, Ellesse’s goal was to revolutionize the ski clothing market. Ellesse once had two company pets, both penguins, named Ettore and Giorgino, who followed the company on the slopes whenever there was a skiing competition. The logo is a combination of the tips of a pair of skis with the cross-section of a tennis ball, made to honor the heritage of the company while looking towards the future of the brand. Ellesse made its way into the tennis limelight when famous players, Chris Evert, Boris Becker and Guillermo Vilas, stepped on court to play matches in the 1980s. The company sponsored the Italian Open in Rome in 1999 as a nod to its tennis heritage. Current players wearing Ellesse are Felicano Lopez, Monica Puig, Elina Svitolina, and Tommy Haas.
