Babolat Pure Storm Limited GT 2011 Racquet Review

Babolat updated the popular Pure Storm Limited racquet with the latest GT and woofer technology last year and for 2011 all new graphics jazz up the Pure Strom lines. Offering improved stability and feel from all areas of the court, this latest version offers a better connection between player and ball per Babolat.

Groundstrokes

Smooth! This stick slices and dices. Definitely one of the most comfortable sticks I have played with, Loads of control and feel from the baseline and for sure a full swing is needed to generate power. I felt confident going for all my shots, spin was easy to get even for an 18x20, slices were deadly, but bring your own power. I even found that due to the headlight balance the  racket feels light even though it's 11/9oz strung. There's ample control for the aggressive player to keep his/her foot on the gas when moving inside the court to finish off a point. Advanced level players who like to take a big cut at the tennis ball will get the most out of this frame.

Volleys

At net the racquet provides a high level of control and feel. I found it easy to control and my placement volleys were on target. Stability is also impressive with the racquet resisting torque even when up against hard hit passing attempts.  The 95in head does not allow for much error but net play is a pleasure thanks to the very low swing weight and head-light balance. Drop volley are easy due to the softness of the frame. The Leather grip really helps you feel the edges of the handle so your hand knows exactly where it is at all times.

Serve

On serve, the Pure Storm Limited GT 2011 again provides lots of feel and control. Pace comes from the player's ability generate their own speed to utilize the mass of the racquet. The tight string pattern provides plenty of grip on the ball for hitting with spin. I was able to hit hard flat serves with no problem. I found great directional control but did notice low power as expected.

Overall

This is one of the finest frames in my opinion. Old school specs (weight and balance). flexible, without ever feeling flexible. Powerful. Tons of touch. Dense pattern. Sweet feel. Not as muted as most modern/comfortable. The accuracy of this stick is fantastic. It makes you a better player because you have to eye the ball, and take a proper swing. I would recommend this racquet to any player 4.0 or higher or anyone who takes long fast cuts at the ball.
