Babolat Pure Drive GT Plus Racquet Review

With a half-inch added to the Pure Drive GT plus comes more power and reach for your shots. The plus version of the Pure Drive GT is up to par with its twin the Pure Drive GT standard. Babolat’s Graphite Tungsten and Woofer Technology is included in the plus version of the Pure Drive GT, along with its Cortex System.

From the baseline, the plus version gave me a very solid feel. The extra half inch on the Pure Drive Plus provided me with more power and leverage than the standard length version. However, at first I had issues hitting dead on the sweet spot and had to adjust to the extra half inch. I felt the plus version gave a ton of spin and plow through. This racquet is a baseliners dream.

On volleys, I liked the extra half inch so that I was able to have more coverage around the net. I felt like I could punch the ball with much power and depth. The feel on my volleys were very solid and crisp. I felt very comfortable when hitting shots that were out of my reach but it was tough dealing with those shots that were close to my body. With the plus version, I felt like it saved me just a few split seconds to get to the ball that was usually out of my reach.

With its additional power and length, I felt like I didn’t have to reach to the ball as much on the serve and was able to focus on putting more spin on the ball. I was very impressed when I decided to flatten out my serves. I got a ton of pop and hit more service winners that usual. Also on my second serve I got a ton of easy kick that prevented double faults. I found my serving percentage went up with the Plus version of the Pure Drive GT.

Overall the Pure Drive GT plus provided my game with a very solid feel and the added half inch makes the Plus a great racket for putting away shots with great depth in the court. Compared to the Standard version Pure Drive GT the plus is great for people who wants additional power and reach on their shots. I would recommend this racquet for NRTP 4.0’s players and higher
