Time flies when you're selling millions of shoes. Incredibly, it's been 10 years since adidas put the first model of its Barricade line up for sale, captivating the hearts of a whole lot of tennis fans and some of the best players around, including Andy Murray, Justine Henin, Novak Djokovic and Caroline Wozniacki. In a release from the manufacturer, Barricade lead designer Thomas Weege talks about the foundation of the shoe. “In 1999 we decided to create the perfect shoe for hard court. The shoe concept we had in mind should provide a balanced mix of comfort, stability and durability, product features which are essential for the game on hard court. In the past decade, more than 3.5 million pairs of the Barricade have sold world wide. The first big star to wear them was Marat Safin, who donned them as he defeated Pete Sampras at the US Open. Henin donned the Barricade III in 2003 as she won both the French and US Opens, finishing th year ranked No. 1 and winning 75 matches. When did you buy your first pair of Barricades?
